Rainbow Tree Play Therapy

“Play Therapy is based upon the fact that play is the child’s natural medium of self- expression. It is the opportunity which is given to the child to ‘play out’ his feelings and problems just as in certain types of adult therapy an individual ‘talks out’ his difficulties.” (Axline 1947)

Play Therapy offers a confidential space in which personal issues can safely be explored. I help the child or young person to make sense of their life experiences and to express difficult feelings through play. I work in a child-centred way so sessions are led by the child or young person.

I use a range of resources for my ‘tool kit’ including art, clay, sand play, role play, music and toys.

Sessions typically take place weekly at the child’s school.
